Learning Laboratory
Education is in a cycle of continuous change. The establishment of the Learning Laboratory will facilitate research into alternative approaches to teaching and learning where nothing is taken for granted or accepted as being the only way. A small number of children will be enrolled in the learning laboratory by parental application and necessary cooperation. Under the governance of a representative advisory group, a teacher will be appointed based on his/her track record of excellence in teaching, appetite for change, innovative approaches and openness to observation and feedback.
In the learning laboratory, while guided by the national curriculum, the teacher will have the freedom and support to experiment and explore divergent pedagogical approaches with the purpose of challenging existing norms and outdated practices.
As well as ongoing evaluation, the learning laboratory project will undergo external evaluation and It is intended that the successful aspects of the project will in time influence those who design and teach teacher training programmes.
